Utilizing the latest technology, our laser tattoo removal results speak for themselves. We can now effectively remove tattoos – restoring the skin to a blank canvas by erasing the ink particles within the layers of the skin.
Tattoos used to be forever. Good, bad, or indifferent, the ink you had etched onto your body stayed with you for life. Sometimes what seemed like a great idea at the time turns out to be a nightmare later. One in 5 Americans have at least one tattoo, and out of that statistic about one in 5 people with tattoos experience regret at some point.
For the past 20 years, clinicians and doctors have been trying to find the optimal way to remove unwanted tattoos. Treatment began with painful and potentially scarring procedures like dermabrasion or literally just cutting the skin containing the tattoo off of your body (excision). Even today a variety of topical creams are available that claim to help dissolve the ink from the surface of your skin with repeated application.
The real advancement in tattoo removal has come because of laser technology. Specialized lasers (like our Astanza Trinity system) have allowed us to specifically target the ink where it resides in the layers of your skin. Treatment is fast, with the average session lasting less than 15 minutes. It’s also virtually painless, with most of our patients saying the zap of the laser feels like a rubber band snapping against your skin.
How The Laser Tattoo Removal Process Works
When a tattoo is applied, a needle deposits ink particles into the dermis, the deepest layer of skin. Almost immediately, your immune system recognizes the particles as foreign substances and sends white blood cells to dispose of them. As time progresses, your white blood cells continuously eat away at the ink particles. However, most ink particles are much too large to be removed by natural processes. This is why tattoos may gradually lose color over time, but will not completely fade on their own.
Laser tattoo removal works by sending extremely quick pulses of light energy into the skin to break up your tattoo’s ink. Each pulse of light energy shatters the ink particles into tiny fragments that are small enough for your white blood cells to dispose of. Over a series of treatments, the laser will continue to break up the ink particles until your tattoo is no longer visible. Most patients will need multiple treatments before seeing complete removal. The number of treatments a patient needs depends on a variety of factors that are unique to the patient and their tattoo, such as age of the tattoo, the ink used, the colors used, and the patient’s own immune system.
Our laser system (which is one of only three in the state of Florida), allows for better results because it actually is able to shatter the ink particles into much smaller fragments that your body can more quickly process and remove. Our laser penetrates deeper into the surface of the skin than competing lasers, allowing for more complete and effective treatment.
The Most Advanced Laser System In Florida
Laser tattoo removal is only as successful as the technology used to deliver treatments. Physicians Advanced Laser Center has invested in the most advanced laser system available, the Astanza Trinity system. We are the first clinic in southwest Florida to offer such an advanced laser to our patients.
If you have a colorful tattoo that you’re looking to remove, Physicians Advanced Laser Center is the right destination for you. Our Trinity system has three full-powered wavelengths, which means we can fully tailor your treatment to the colors of ink in your tattoo and have the power to completely remove all ink, regardless of color, size, ink, or even your skin pigmentation.
Colors such as bright blue and lime green have traditionally been the most difficult colors to remove because they cannot be fully removed with an Nd:YAG laser, the most popular kind of tattoo removal laser. The 694nm wavelength produced by our Trinity laser is effectively absorbed by these stubborn ink colors and is a powerful solution if you’ve had inks resistant to treatments at other clinics. Most laser tattoo removal providers that support only 1064nm and 532nm wavelengths are unable to treat patients with bright, multicolored tattoos.
Our laser system produces the highest peak power across its three wavelengths of any laser system for optimal ink shattering and faster ink clearance. Our advanced laser system allows us to treat your tattoo quickly and effectively, while minimizing pain and scarring. All of these features combined makes Physicians Advanced Laser Center the number one provider for laser tattoo removal in Florida. We are able to completely remove all colors of ink on any skin tone, in the fewest amount of treatments possible!
Real Tattoo Removal Results
We take a medical approach
In the state of Florida, physicians assistants are allowed to perform laser tattoo removal procedures, while a medical director has to provide oversight at the clinical level. This doctor is typically not on-site and does not generally communicate directly with patients. There are few laser clinics that actually employ a trained physician to treat patients. At Physicians Advanced Laser Center, each consultation and tattoo removal procedure is performed by Dr. Barry Gordon – a medical doctor licensed to practice in the states of Ohio and Florida.
In addition to his years of experience treating patients in an emergency room setting, Doctor Gordon has received his certification in both Laser Specialty and Advanced Laser Tattoo Removal from the New Look Laser College in Dallas, Texas in 2015. This allows us to provide a specialized clinical approach to our patients.
As a physician, Dr. Gordon is also able to better provide aftercare for our patients. He’s worked closely with several local pharmacies to develop an inexpensive special post-treatment cream that reduces pain, swelling, and blistering. In addition to our exclusive removal cream, Dr. Gordon is able to prescribe various medications to assist in recovery that other laser centers cannot.
How much does laser tattoo removal cost?
Physicians Advanced Laser Center offers several different options to fit your budget. During your initial free consultation, we will assess your tattoo and will use the Kirby-Desai Scale to figure out how many treatments you’ll need for complete removal. We will then quote you a solid, per-treatment price that we will continue to honor until you are completely satisfied with the results.
How many treatments will I need?
On average, most patients need between 5 to 8 treatments before achieving complete clearance. Patients with significantly faded or smaller tattoos may only need up to 3 or 4 treatments for complete removal. However, there is no way of knowing the specific number of treatments you will need without seeing how your body and the ink react to laser treatment.
During your free consultation, Dr. Barry will assess your tattoo based on a variety of factors to best estimate the number of treatments you will need. These factors include:
- Age of tattoo
- Size of tattoo
- Location of tattoo
- Ink density
- Depth of ink
- Pre-existing scarring
- Patient health
How long do I have to wait between treatment sessions?
Treatment sessions are spaced a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks apart to give your skin enough time to heal before receiving another treatment with the laser. Receiving treatment too early into the healing process may increase risks of damaging your skin tone or texture. Laser tattoo removal is a lengthy process that requires both time and patience, but is well worth the wait. Depending on how quickly your skin heals, the waiting time between treatment sessions may fluctuate.
Does the laser hurt?
Since every patient experiences pain differently, there is no definitive answer to this question. Most people say that it’s uncomfortable yet tolerable.
Many patients that have undergone laser tattoo removal have compared the procedure to having a rubber band snapped against the skin. All we can say is, if you are able to sit through hours of tattoo application, you can definitely tolerate having your ink removed. Luckily, laser tattoo removal is a much faster procedure that lasts anywhere from 1 to 20 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo being treated.
Physicians Advanced Laser Center provides advanced skin numbing options to those concerned about skin sensitivity to the laser.
Are there any side effects?
Laser tattoo removal is the only method for removing unwanted ink that does not result in scarring. The most common side effects of laser tattoo removal are redness, swelling, blistering, scabbing, and itchiness. All of these side effects are temporary and eventually heal in the days following a treatment. We highly encourage patients to refrain from picking or popping any scabs or blisters that form. Although worrisome by their appearance, blisters and scabs are actually positive signs that your skin is healing and reacting well to treatment. As long as proper aftercare is performed to the treated area, your skin will heal beautifully without any damage. Dr. Gordon will discuss all of the potential risks with you during your consultation and visit.
Can you fade my tattoo for a cover-up?
Yes! Laser tattoo removal is a great tool for removing tattoos completely as well as fading tattoos in preparation for a cover-up tattoo. Since most tattoos are dark or contain a lot of ink, tattoo artists find it difficult to cover up an existing tattoo without having to use double the amount of ink already embedded in your skin. In order to give your tattoo artist more flexibility with their design, laser tattoo removal can erase down existing tattoos to create a cleaner canvas for your tattoo artist to use. In addition to fading for cover-ups, Physicians Advanced Laser Center also provides partial removal for patients looking to remove a specific portion of their tattoo. We will also meet with you and your tattoo artist via our eVisit portal to discuss a treatment plan.
Since laser tattoo removal is considered cosmetic in nature, procedures are usually not able to be covered by insurance. But we do have a genuine interest in helping people reach their removal goals, so we will work with our patients to create a course of treatment within their budgets.
We have a number of payment options to suit your needs. We gladly accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, even American Express.
